Vampire Diaries Extended Promo: Season 5, Episode 16 — "While You Were Sleeping"

In this week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, we get to catch up with Elena (Nina Dobrev), who is officially back from body banishment. Oh, wait — did we say “catch up”? We meant watch her spiral ever-further into virus-induced madness. Check out the extended promo for Season 5, Episode 16 (“While You Were Sleeping”).
“This is the virus. It’s in your head,” Bonnie (Kat Graham) tells a seriously stressed out Elena.
“How exactly do we cure this?” Elena asks Damon (Ian Somerhalder) over the phone. This might be a good opportunity for Elena to reconnect with her non-supernatural friends and family (i.e. Jeremy, Bonnie, and Matt). Super virus silver lining?
Meanwhile, Stefan (Paul Wesley), Caroline (Candice Accola), and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) are hanging out in a railyard. “You have the antidote to the Ripper virus, correct?” Stefan asks Enzo, who looks away coyly. What is your game, Enzo?
In the following sequence, we see the Ripper virus take control of Elena: She’s burning things in a bonfire; dancing on top of a table at a party; and asking, panicked over the phone, “What’s happening to me, Damon?” Well, it looks like you’re going to way cooler college parties, for one thing.
